Reasonix: Trustworthy Coding Autonomy

How hosts make model initiative observable and recoverable

Overview

This series explains how Reasonix turns model judgment into bounded coding work. It begins with the provider–host–user responsibility split, follows a tool call through validation, target resolution, permission, Sandbox enforcement, execution, and evidence, then separates Plan, Goal, context, memory, receipts, rewind, session branches, workspace leases, MCP, extensions, delegation, ACP, and Remote SSH. The organizing principle is that autonomy is trustworthy only when authority, effects, state, ownership, and recovery remain visible. Reasonix can automate substantial work inside an explicit, observable, recoverable scope, but the series does not support universal safety, faster delegation, or model completion as proof of correct code.

Learning outcomes
  • Reasonix separates model intent from host admission, tool effects, and observed facts.
  • Plan controls when implementation begins; Goal controls continuation, not permission.
  • Memory and context projections aid continuity without replacing exact session history.
  • Rewind restores structured edits, while opaque external effects remain outside universal undo.
  • MCP, extensions, delegation, ACP, and Remote SSH add distinct trust and ownership boundaries.

FAQ

What makes Reasonix different from a model in a chat window?

Reasonix is a host around a model: it registers tools, validates calls, applies permission and Sandbox checks, records outcomes, and feeds bounded evidence into later turns.

How do Plan, Goal, permissions, and Sandbox differ in Reasonix?

Plan gates state-changing work until approval, Goal continues a saved objective across turns, permissions decide whether a concrete call may run, and the Sandbox limits where an allowed call can operate.

Can Reasonix safely automate a long coding task?

Reasonix can automate substantial work when the objective, scope, approval posture, evidence expectations, and recovery path are explicit and enforceable. It cannot make opaque external effects reversible or treat a model's completion report as proof that the code is correct.

Are MCP servers and Reasonix extensions sandboxed?

An MCP server is trusted through installation and remains outside the local file Sandbox; a code extension is explicitly full trust and can bypass workspace and permission restrictions. Their protocols and metadata improve visibility but do not remove those trust boundaries.
