Overview
MathModelAgent is an open-source project that tries to carry mathematical-modeling work from question intake through assumptions, executable analysis, visualization, paper assembly, and verification. The series follows both its skills-first contracts and retained backend, showing how staged ownership, typed handoffs, execution feedback, artifacts, runtime state, and document checks make reasoning easier to inspect. It also marks the boundary: successful code, polished papers, schemas, and roadmap settings do not prove mathematical validity, citation support, end-to-end feature integration, or secure production operation. Trust is therefore conditional on human review, evidence traceability, and deployment controls.
Learning outcomes
- MathModelAgent’s main value is making modeling stages, handoffs, execution, artifacts, and checks easier to inspect—not certifying the resulting mathematics.
- Model selection must follow the requested output, assumptions, constraints, data situation, and validation plan; a running program can still encode the wrong model.
- Notebooks, result records, figures, messages, and paper checks support traceability, but each answers a different evidentiary question.
- Trust is conditional: human judgment, evidence review, provenance, and deployment controls remain necessary, especially for sensitive or consequential work.

PlansFAQ
What is MathModelAgent designed to automate?
MathModelAgent is designed to automate coordination across question analysis, model design, code execution, visualization, drafting, and verification. Its documented and implemented surfaces differ, so readers should identify which path they are using.
What does successful code execution prove in MathModelAgent?
Successful code execution proves that the supplied program ran in the supplied environment; it does not prove that the target, assumptions, constraints, or interpretation are correct.
How can a MathModelAgent result be made traceable?
A traceable result links the question and target to assumptions, model, run, artifacts, validation, and the final claim. Result records, notebooks, figures, messages, and references preserve different parts of that path.
Can MathModelAgent be trusted without human review?
No. MathModelAgent can accelerate an observable modeling workflow, but human review remains necessary for model validity, evidence, citations, final claims, and deployment controls.
